Hossa Says He'll Take Less To Stay With Wings

Jun 20, 2014 6:53 PM

Marion Hossa says that he'll take less money in order to stay with the Red Wings, who signed him to a discounted one-year deal this past offseason. "To tell you the truth, I want to sign somewhere and retire there," Hossa said Sunday. "I don't want to move around any more. I'm 30. I don't know how long I'm going to play, but I am looking for long-term deal. "To be able to stay as a Red Wing, I am prepared to take less money, but a fair deal, so both sides are happy. That's what I'm looking for. I know if I go somewhere else, I could have more, but I'm willing to take less to stay here. Hopefully things work out."

Sedin Talks Ends With Playoffs On Mind

Sep 22, 2014 9:18 PM

Contract talks between the Canucks and the Sedin brothers have been tabled as the postseason approaches. "We're in complete agreement on some issues, and on others there is some disagreement," said assistant general manager Laurence Gilman. "We're not going to have a deal until we are in agreement on all the issues. At this point, we're focusing on the playoff run and so are they. These are not time sensitive issues." Both Daniel and Henrik Sedin will become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

Wild Could Re-Sign Gaborik?

Oct 13, 2014 10:18 PM

Most have considered Marian Gaborik's career to be over in Minnesota, but the Wild are actually considering a short-term deal. "I envisioned signing him this year. It didn't work out. Now maybe this is a way to make it work out based on the existing circumstances," general manager Doug Risebrough said. With the salary cap expected to decrease in two summers, it'll be difficult for Gaborik to sign a long-term deal with any team this summer.
